Q. I want to become a life model, where do I start?
MLD is not a model's employment agency or training institution, however it does provide some useful tips on how you might get started as a life model. Please refer to the Model Info section of this site.
Q. Do you run life model training?
MLD does not currently organise or delivery life model training. Quarterly life model training is organised and run by the Life Models Society in Carlton. Places are limited and MLD has absolutely no influence over who or how many people can participate in this training.
Enquiries about training should be made to Life Models Society directly

Q. Do I HAVE to have special training to be a life model? or does it just take confidence?
PRACTICAL Considerations: Currently there are no certified life model training courses in Melbourne. The Life Models Society provides training in various practical aspects of working as a model, many of which are covered off in the code of conduct training information HERE.
It is very important all models are aware of this code as the information is there to ensure your safety, and help promote professionalism and consistency for the artists or groups hiring you.
CREATIVE Considerations: Yes there is much to be said for confidence. Many life models have creative experience in one or more of dance, theatre or performance which strengthen their self-confidence and 'presence', and ultimately their ability to work with artists in a creative context.
If you have this type of background then you may want to try modelling for friends or artists privately first as a way of starting out and building confidence modelling nude.
Q. I would like to have an online model profile, but have little to no experience, what do I do?
As each person's situation is unique, there is no set amount of experience required in order to apply for an MLD profile, however all applicants are screened to ensure they have some modelling experience or at least the potential to work effectively as a model. Wherever possible references are followed up to verify the models claims.

Q. I am seeking modelling work and wish to apply for a job with MLD, are you hiring?
MLD provides networking, promotion and advertising services. MLD does NOT hire life models or act as an agent for life models, so please do not contact MLD requesting paid work or referrals to employers of life models.
Q. I attend a life drawing class and would like to promote our classes on your site, can you add us to the MLD directory for free?
Unfortunately not. Managing this site requires both creative and technical ability to plan, design, verify, publish and maintain the information on it. When compared to other advertising options MLD is competitively priced, hence our Basic and Full listing options.

Q. I want to update/modify my listing details, how do I do that?
Each paid listing with MLD is valid for 6 months. During this time, minor modifications to existing listings (phone numbers, venue, dates etc) can be made free of charge. For all other changes or work requests, the standard listing charges apply.
